  • Web 3.0

After the boom of cryptographic currency, Web 3.0 came with more use cases. Web 3.0 will create more diverse ways of interaction, break down global barriers to interaction, connect data from individuals, enterprises and machines with efficient machine learning algorithms through cryptographic means, and create a new market and business model.

Alexander Skidanov, co-founder of Distributed Computing Platform NEAR Protocol, released a protocol evaluation report on Harmony, a fragmentation project of block chains, which approved its network and randomness design, such as using Verifiable Delay Function (VDF) to achieve irreplaceable randomness, and RaptorQ to achieve faster block propagation, but fragmentation chains can only guarantee security when the attacker is slow, but once attacked. Safety is hard to guarantee when Fang does evil quickly, while Harmony’s own Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT) consensus needs more details to be disclosed, as well as formal proof of safety and activity.

The Tezos main network will implement the Athens A proposal on May 29 to increase block computing limits to allow greater transaction throughput and reduce the random 10,000 XTZ obtained by the pledger “baker” during block creation to 8,000. In late March, the Tezos community completed its first round of voting on the system upgrade proposal. The two proposals are “Athens A” and “Athens B”. They adopt the Tezos protocol revision procedure, aiming at introducing system-wide upgrades in a fully automated and autonomous manner, also known as hard bifurcation. Although more than half of the “bakers” abstained, after collecting more than 25,000 votes, “Athens A” won 18,181 votes and a majority of the votes.
